About Hyrum LaTurner

Hyrum LaTurner lives with his family in Urbana, Illinois.  He is licensed to practice law in Indiana and Illinois, with inactive status in Montana.  Hyrum has a PhD from the University of Chicago and has been a professor of Philosophy for the past twenty years.

He received a J.D. cum laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  Hyrum opened his own law firm in 2022.  Hyrum is actively engaged as a Public Defender with a primary focus on major felonies, and is expanding that work to take on Public Defender appointments in Urbana and Champaign, Illinois in the coming months.  His work is marked by a genuine concern for his clients, and a willingness to take matters to trial.

Hyrum is a devoted husband and father.  He married his wife, Michelle, in 2016.  He brought three children—and she brought three children of her own—to the marriage.  As if that weren’t enough, Hyrum and Michelle had two babies together—bringing the grand total of children in the family to eight!

Michelle graduated from medical school at Indiana University in May 2026 and is now a medical resident in Urbana, Illinois, training to become an Ob/Gyn.  Together they feel fortunate to balance the demands of a growing law firm with the rigors of medical training.  Hyrum brings wisdom, compassion, and practical insight to his clients to help not only navigate legal issues, but to help find balance and peace when necessary—or to expand and grow as opportunity allows.

In his spare time Hyrum has been a collegiate national racquetball champion, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, and an Ironman triathlete.
